Eric
 Eric is living in his own condo and has a mortgage payment to prove it. At age 22, he decided he'd like to be on his own. He is fortunate that he has a good job in a skilled trade (electrical and mechanical assembly), and he can drive himself to work every day. Moving out of his parents' home was a big step, for his parents and for him, which at times seemed pretty scary. But Eric was inspired by his HearthStone friend, Joe, who moved into his own condo a few months before. "If Joe can do it, I can do it," was Eric's comment.
With the support and encouragement of Joe's family, Eric and his parents began to look for just the right spot . . . near home, nearer to work, two bedrooms (one for the computer equipment), and a nice neighborhood. And when they found just the right place, Eric got some very significant financial help through HearthStone's networking. HearthStone helped find down payment assistance (a sizeable loan which will be forgiven after 5 years) and a low-interest WHEDA loan to help keep Eric's payments affordable. Thanks to HearthStone and a lot of help from friends and family Eric's on his own . . . and very, very happy.
(He still goes to his parents a lot for Mom's cooking, but he's always in a hurry to "get home" to his condo.)
