Active Participation

Special Olympics

For over 25 years, Special Olympics has been a source of pride to participants and an
inspiration to supporters. Millions of individuals with cognitive disabilities (mental
retardation) have trained and competed year-round in a variety of Olympic-type
sports. All the athletes are given the chance to exercise courage and strength of spirit.
For many, it is one of their greatest accomplishments.
